@gruber When innovation moves the platform forward, yes.

Surely you don’t think Twitter for iPad is all bad? I mean, sure, it has some rough edges right now, in v1.x, but it does work. Is an extra 10 seconds to grok the UI really enough to dismiss it entirely?

For the record, my current Twitter client of choice is Twitterrific. I can’t live without the colour coding in the main timeline. But I was thrilled to see someone breaking the mould and trying something new with iPad UI. The iPad is way too young to have a “right vs. wrong” when it comes to UI. It’s a blank canvas. Developers are experimenting. I applaud every success and every good try.

Of course, we shouldn’t applaud any hack that slaps together a broken UX - and we don’t really call that “innovation”.

But we’re not talking about someone like that. Brichter is a decorated iOS developer who has contributed to the platform at large, influencing many apps.

Devs like him are explorers, going boldly forward to discover this new world that Apple has created.

That is what should be applauded.
