iOS Version History

Today I hacked together a chart showing the ages of historical iOS release versions.

I have posted this chart a couple of times before, as screenshots from a Numbers spreadsheet I’ve been keeping for a couple of years. I decided it’s time to make it a permanent page on my site, and spruce it up a bit while I’m at it.

The design is still a work-in-progress, and it still requires me to go in and edit it every time a new beta is released, but it’s much less work than it used to be. And now, with the magic of Google’s Charts API, it’s interactive as well. The chart is 100% generated by Javascript in the browser, producing slick SVG images on-the-fly.

I present this as a resource for people who like to track this sort of thing. Please link back to this site if you use it in yours.
